And a couple of photos of the Raptor stock for Steyr rifles. The real advantage of this new stock part is that is allows to shoot ‘thumb up’, this was impossible with the original Steyr stock. It uses Anschütz holders for butt-plate and cheek piece, these can be bough second hand anywhere. All surfaces are anodised, in black / natural aluminium colours.

SteadyWing Hook Extension

I have already written about my new design, a fixed and smaller version of FolloWing system: The little brother: SteadyWing. Now the first few ones are printed and worked fine during the first tests.

The system is articulated but the trick is that the contact points are not the links themselves, but the small caterpillar legs in the joints. These legs can be separately rotated, so the SteadyWing hook extension can exactly follow any shape. And the end element can be rotated, too – this gives a stable fit, standing with its full surface on the shoulder.

See the differences between Normal and Extended version below. The extended version contains an extra link with its extra leg so it is longer and surrounds the shoulder even better.

PinPoint for Anschütz, FWB, Steyr and Walther

A new batch of PinPoint triggers is ready, for the following rifles: Anschütz, Feinwerkbau, Steyr and Walther. These rifles have got a double trigger rail so one trigger unit fits for right/left handed shooters and with short/long fingers as well, depending the position and forwards or backwards reaching direction, so there’s only one trigger for each rifle.

Offset trigger for Feinwerkbau
Offset trigger for Feinwerkbau

This is the Steyr trigger, with the popular Pyramids blade. The blade can be rotated to switch between central and offset position. I do advise to set the blade exactly perpendicular to the direction of pull, there’s no need to rotate the blade to different awkward positions. Yes I know that many shooters do this but only because their finger is too short, but this trigger can be set backwards and offset so you can reach it comfortably.

Please note that on Steyr rifles, there is a grub screw between the trigger rails, that shouldn’t stand out more than 2 mm from the plate, you might need to replace it with a shorter one.

The webshop offers a wide range of trigger blades (pyramids, grooves, ridges, balls, flat shapes etc.),  the two sides always have the same pattern but with a coarse and a fine variation of the chosen surface, see the pyramids on the photo above and below.

As you can see, the new trigger can be rotated by 180° for shooters with shorter or longer fingers. The longitudinal adjustment range is: Feinwerkbau = 30 mm, Steyr = 34 mm, Walther = 27 mm (in general: length of the rifle’s trigger rail + 6 mm).

Another advantage of PinPoint triggers is that the blade is only 6 mm high so the trigger weight will be always the same.

Complete Fun :-)

Here are a few photos about the FolloWing Complete. This is Brian’s Hook Kit, topped up with my new adaptive upper wing, with extra link element and thumb screw. I put it together in original white, with its porous surface it looks like a very big piece of strong mint :-)

After dyeing and oiling it has a velvet-like finish, much more resistant to dirt and scratches. The dye soaks into the first 2-3 tenth mm of the surface, so even after a harder scratch you’ll still see the black colour.

Perfect fit to the shoulder
Perfect fit to the shoulder

I made a selfie with the complete hook to show, how it fits to the shoulder. Maybe one link element less would be better for me, the optimal position of FolloWing is on the top of the shoulder, not behind it. But every little part can be adjusted so it’s not a problem to get a perfect fit.

No waiting time now

If everything goes well, a greater amount of new parts is going to arrive tomorrow. If you place your order in the next days, I can send the goods immediately, you don’t have to wait for them for 2-3 weeks as usual. FolloWing, SteadyWing and MegaWing hook extensions, PinPoint triggers for EV-2, FTP-900, Anschütz, Steyr, Walther and Feinwerkbau rifles, and a couple of ComBrella shades…

The Little Brother: SteadyWing

I added a new design to the shop, the SteadyWing hook extension. This is the little brother of the FolloWing, without the adaptive moving but gives a wide range of adjustments by the joints and the independently adjustable caterpillar legs. The end element of the wing can be rotated, so it fits better to your body than a simple extended link.

Extends your original wing
Extends your original wing

SteadyWing is available for these butt-hooks at the time:

  • AirArms EV-2 — connects to the original upper wing
  • AirArms FTP-900 — connects to the original upper wing (you have to drill a 4 mm hole into the wing)
  • Anschütz 4765 — connects to the original upper wing (you have to drill two 4 mm holes into the wing)
  • Anschütz Precise I — replaces the original uppermost ball
  • Brian’s Hook — connects to the base element, instead of the original upper wing
  • Feinwerkbau P70 hook — connects to the original upper wing
  • MEC Free Position — connects to the original upper wing (you have to drill two 4 mm holes into the wing)
  • Steyr LG-100/110 — replaces the original upper wing
  • System Gemini — connects to the link element, with an extra rotation axis

SteadyWing 2 extra

Parts of the standard version are: an adapter that is different for every hook types, a connecting link with an adjustable ‘caterpillar leg’ at the joint, and the end element (same as seen on FolloWing) that can be rotated, too.
The extended version contains an extra link with its extra leg so it is longer and surrounds the shoulder even better. Theoretically, you could use even more links but this would result too much tension at the adapter piece so the ordering options are no extra link / one link.

SteadyWing or FolloWing?

  • Steadywing is a simple upper wing extension, with many adjustments but it is fixed. If you want only an advanced wing extension on a reasonable price, then choose SteadyWing.
  • FolloWing can move and give a stable support at the same time. If you are an experienced FT shooter who wants the best stability in every shooting position, then buy FolloWing. The unique feature of FolloWing is the possibility of moving, but the articulated part can be fixed. In this case, you can use it as an extremely well adjustable but steady extension.
  • If you can’t decide, or would like to use both on the same rifle, you can buy them in a bundle with discount, see MegaWing Kit:

Ball Point Trigger Blade

New ball point trigger blade

I added a new trigger blade to the PinPoint Blades, it is comaptible with all the adapters. This is a ball point trigger, with a d=5 mm and a d=8 mm ball on the two ends. The distance from the mount is the same as on the other PinPoint blades. This means that the centre of the ball points of the trigger can be on the same places, in the centre or in 9.6 mm offset.

PinPoint Ball 2

The end points of the balls are at the same distance from the threaded hole so when turned over, you don’t need to adjust the length of the trigger.

From now on, you can order all PinPoint Triggers with this new ‘Ball’ trigger blade, too.

New FolloWing on the Inter-Regionals

After two successful prototypes, the first production models of FolloWing Universal are ready. They arrived on Friday, I dyed and oiled them until late evening and then put together in the morning, then off to the BFTA Championship… I used a flat PinPoint trigger blade, I wanted to test this one after the round shape I used the last time. You can see on this picture, how FolloWing works: it sits on the top of my shoulder, the rifle hangs down from there and the two adjustable wings always fit with their full surface, in any shooting position. (Photos: Simon Evans)

2014 BFTA Champs and Inters 407 crop

My Saturday shooting wasn’t too good, but after the competition I was playing with the new FolloWing on the zero range. As it turned out, it is essential to adjust the proper height for the articulated wings, because they have to hold the greater part of the rifle’s weight, but not all. The vertical hook parts have to hold some weights, too. It was a good decision to design this kind of adjustment into the system.

2014 BFTA Champs and Inters 408

I don’t like to rotate the butt-hook too much towards me, I believe is symmetry. If everything is in line, a possible error is prevented. The wide trigger blade serves the same purpose, I can exactly feel the direction of the pull.

2014 BFTA Champs and Inters 407

We had some strange standing shots, even on a tree, but the adjustable forend worked well and I didn’t miss any positionals today. Well, some of them was only a lucky shot but let’s remember what uncle Matula said about lucky shots… :-)

2014 BFTA Champs and Inters 413

I missed a long and windy target, this was not surprising. Then managed to be clear of further misses, until… until I missed Nr. 23, a full size kill at about 35 metres, with a negligible breeze, and then WHATTAFAKK, I couldn’t believe my eyes… I missed my third one on the last lane, but luckily hit the last target. I could hear some MFTA shooters cheering in the background, because NEFTA was leading by 308:307 – but then I handed my scorecard in, the Midlands took over and we won the Inter-Regionals by 316:308 over our greatest rivals.

2014 BFTA Champs and Inters 478 crop

So the Midlands won the Inter-Regionals trophy, and I made the top score of the day. Our photographer made a photo of me with the cup (and with the winning rifle and the FolloWing on it :-), but this was a team win today so let me name all the Midlands team members here, with their scores:
